The Joy Larkcom Collection features 626 colour photographic slides (35mm transparencies) taken during her research trips to China, Hong Kong and Taiwan in 1985, and to Yunnan, China in 1994. The purpose of the trip was to study vegetable gardening and seeding. Majority of these photographs were taken by her. Her teammates Jacqui Hurst and Pamla Toler's photographic slides are found in this collection. The collection also includes: 1. Digital files of her film note (which saved in HPC RDFS); 2. Her article “The Hong Kong country parks” which were published in the RHS [Royal Horticultural Society] on December 1986; 3. Physical and digital copies of Joy Larkcom’s notes on selecting slides for the University of Bristol Special Collections, a vegetable list and correspondences with Jamie Carstairs (then Project Manager, Historical China Photograph of University of Bristol) Joy Larkcom donated the materials listed to Special Collections (mostly China-, Hong Kong- and Taiwan-related, but some of the photographs were taken in Wisbech and in USA). The donated slides were captioned and arranged systematically with its numbering system.
